Britain’s national Cycle to Work Day is upon us once again … Are you sick of your commute? Change it up a gear and get your bike out! Whether leafy or urban, you should be getting involved!
Cycle to Work Day is a national event held this year on 14 September, supported by Act TravelWise and other partners. It aims to encourage everyone to take to two wheels and cycle to work for at least one day. Last year tens of thousands got involved and if you aren’t already one of those thousands, then this year, it’s your turn!
According to the census data, 741,000 people in the UK cycle to work regularly – this number keeps growing steadily, but with Cycle to Work Day’s help, the aim is to make those numbers skyrocket this year and beyond! By 2021, Britain hopes to see one million people regularly commuting to work by bike.
Staggering efforts in both 2013, 2014 and 2015 saw tens of thousands of commuters hit the streets, and cycle over a million miles for Cycle to Work Day. Hundreds of employers have also supported the day, from start-ups to large national companies.
This far-reaching support ensures that Cycle to Work Day’s message is spread far and wide, but to truly fulfil the aim to see one million people regularly cycle commuting by 2021, you need to get on the saddle with Cycle to Work Day and encourage your colleagues, friends and family to give cycling a go – and if that’s not enough to pledge your support for this great campaign, there is a chance to WIN prizes, get FREE bike checks and much more!
Happy riding!
