National Walking Month

National Walking Month | Smarter Travel Ltd

Did you know that May is National Walking month?

If you are trying to get more walking into your day then you’re in luck!

National Walking month is all about encouraging people to walk more throughout May – a great excuse to go out in the spring sunshine! It is a campaign to promote the benefits of walking and to get everyone walking, no matter what your level of fitness is.

Walking is simple and free and one of the easiest ways to be more active, lose weight and become healthier. If you need some motivation Living Streets will show you 20 fun and easy ways to fit 20 minutes walking in to your day if you sign their pledge; plus all pledgers are entered into a £50 prize draw!

National Walking Month is also running Walk to School Week.

Walk to School Week 16-20 May – This encourages schools to get children (and parents) walking. It could reduce the risk of childhood obesity and get children and families in the habit of walking. The walk to school is the perfect opportunity for some quality family time or a good chat with friends helping to develop strong, happy relationships.

For more about Walk to School Week and to access the free resource follow the link http://www.livingstreets.org.uk/what-we-do/projects/walk-to-school-week

However, if you want to take it to the next level, why not help celebrate by organising your own walk this May and raise money for a charity close to your heart.

Exercise your body and mind. Be more – Do more.
