Electric Vehicles

Did you know that by 2035, all sales of new petrol and diesel cars are set to end in order to accelerate a greener transport future? Electric and hybrid vehicles are to replace them.

By 2030, electric and hybrid cars aim to be able to drive over 320 kilometres on a single charge, and you could save £100+ compared to petrol or diesel.

A useful website to understand more about EV is Energy Saving Trust: This is an independent organisation website that is working to address climate emergency. It has everything you need to know about an EV and active travel. It demonstrates the benefits, tips about charging your EV.

One of the main benefits of driving an electric or hybrid vehicle are that they are cheaper to run than combustion engines. They can potentially save up to two thirds of petrol or diesel cost. They are cheaper to maintain because of hundreds of fewer moving parts and associated mechanical problems, and they are better for the environment with no exhaust emissions (EV’s don’t even have an exhaust!)

To find EV charging points throughout the UK visit the handy CarWow or Zapmap websites. According to Zapmap, there are over 87,000 public charging points in the UK, including around 20% rapid (50-149kW) and ultra-rapid chargers at 150kW+ (correct as of December 2025). That’s a 19% growth since December 2024!
