There are a selection of local incentives to promote travelling by public transport, including;
Age-related free bus pass:
This is part of the national statutory scheme which you can apply for from the age of 65. This entitles you to free travel on buses within England between 9:30 am and 11:00 pm, Monday to Friday and all day Saturday and Sundays. To check your eligibility and apply for your card please visit the Suffolk On Board website.
Disabled persons free bus pass:
This is a similar scheme to the above. To find out if you are eligible and to apply, please head to the Suffolk On Board website for more information.
Travel Voucher Scheme:
Suffolk County Council operates a Travel Voucher scheme for residents that qualify for the above bus passes but cannot use them due to their location or due to severe disability. Travel Vouchers can be used towards the use of community transport, taxis or private hire vehicles. To find out more information, again, head over to the Suffolk On Board website.
For anyone aged between 16 and 19, you can apply for an Endeavour Card which gives you at least 25% off participating bus services. The card is free to apply for and your journey must either start or finish in Suffolk to receive the discount. Find out more information and apply here.
Felixstowe Area Community Transport Service (F.A.C.T.S):
This is a community transport operator which helps people get out and about by providing essential transport links for those who may not have regular access to public transport. F.A.C.T.S operates a door to door service, known as connecting communities, for a variety of journeys in the area. Passengers must pre-book their journeys two to three days in advance as well as being pre-registered. Call F.A.C.T.S on either (01394) 282857 or (01934) 270337 to register and find out more information.
In addition to the Connecting Communities service, a community car service is available to help with journeys to places such as the doctors, hospital, to and from daycare centres, supermarkets and to public transport links. Again, book or find out more information by calling the above telephone numbers.
