Public Transport Alternatives
If you are unable to travel by conventional public transport (i.e. due to location or severe mobility impairment) you could be eligible to receive travel vouchers to assist with the cost of community transport services. Contact your local council, West Suffolk District Council, for details on how to obtain these vouchers or head over to suffolkonboard.com. In addition to the above, The Voluntary Network provides details about a variety of community transport options including:

✔ Dial-a-ride, a local door-to-door transport service using easy access minibuses. The service operates Monday to Friday, from 8.30am-4.00pm. All passengers need to be members, for a membership pack and more information, call 01638 608022.

✔ Community Car Services such as ‘Wheels Within Wheels’, provides a wheelchair accessible vehicle for hire. The vehicle can be used by groups and individuals who can supply their own driver, although there are some volunteers who are able to drive the vehicle, subject to availability. The vehicle is based in Newmarket and available 7 days a week. Call 01638 608022 for more information.
