Community Travel

There are a selection of local incentives to promote travelling by public transport, including;

Age-related free bus pass:

This is part of the national statutory scheme which you can apply for according to age. This entitles you to free travel on buses within England between 9:30 am and 11:00 pm, Monday to Friday and all day Saturday and Sundays. To check your eligibility, at what age you can apply and to complete an application please visit the Norfolk County Council website.

Disabled persons free bus pass:

This is a similar scheme to the above, however, to find out if you are eligible and to apply, please head to the Norfolk County Council website for more information.

Holdall Smart Card:

Holdall is a smart travel card offered free of charge by Norfolk County Council to encourage sustainable transport and offer customers new ways to pay on the bus. The smart card is based on the national open standard for smart ticketing, so it is not restricted to one operator. Any bus operator who chooses to participate can sell their tickets with the holdall, and everyone is invited. The holdall smartcard can also be used as your key to Norfolk Car Club.

There are two ways to use Holdall; either prepay for your tickets to be used on Park and Ride services around Norwich or prepay for your fusion bus tickets. Find out more about Fusion here. Alternatively, you can top up your card and use it as a pay as you go system. Currently, this can only be used with Park and Ride services as well as a couple of bus operators (sadly not servicing Wymondham at the moment). If this changes, we will keep you updated! Find out more information and request your free card on the Holdall website.

Norfolk Flexi Bus:

The Norfolk Flexibus is a ring and ride service available for anyone in the area. The bus is fully accessible and has space for wheelchair users, pushchairs and shopping. The service can pick you up from Wymondham and take you to surrounding villages such as Barford, Hethersett, Mulbarton and Barnham Broom. The service can also take you to Wymondham Town Centre or one of the supermarkets (Waitrose or Morrisons in Wymondham). Overall, it connects 28 villages with Wymondham! Services are available Monday to Friday between 9am-2: 30 pm during term time and 8am-4pm outside of term time. Bookings must be made before 3 pm the day before you wish to travel. To book a journey please either click here or telephone 0300 1231145.
